Dear First House,
Thank you for the memories. I remember walking onto your floors and knowing you were the one. My soon-to-be husband and I made an offer right away. A month later, he carried me over the threshold to begin our new life together. We brought a new puppy home. He rolled on your floors and dug in the trash when we weren’t looking. We watched our dogs chase frogs in the backyard and dash through the snow in winter.
We laughed and cried a lot in your walls. I studied for every law school exam sitting in the living room. We danced with the dogs in the kitchen. We licked chocolate from the bowls. We prayed over our breakfast table. We dreamed up our little life here.
We celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthdays. We decorated for every holiday much to my husbands chagrin. We hung the stockings. We celebrated my graduation in the living room with all of our favorite people. I cried in our garage when I opened the letter saying I passed the bar exam. We learned how to be a husband and wife here. We were blessed here.
We are excited for the new memories in our new house. Planning, building, and dreaming all over again. However, you will always have a special place in my heart because you were where it all started for us. Thank you for every single memory.
